About Emma

Hello, I’m Emma, the founder of Tutor with Emma. I am a qualified primary teacher, SENCo, and dedicated advocate for inclusive education. I completed my undergraduate degree at Durham University, my PGCE in Primary Education in Newcastle, and my SENCo Diploma at the University of Reading.

My teaching approach is centred around understanding each learner as an individual. I believe that education should be supportive, engaging, and empowering—not stressful or one-size-fits-all. Over the years, I have built a team of tutors who share the same ethos: kind, skilled, reliable educators who genuinely care.

I am also currently training a therapy dog, who will soon be available to support children needing emotional reassurance, confidence building, or a gentle furry friend to help them feel at ease during sessions.

I was recommended to contact Emma for tutoring by a friend. Emma has helped my two boys- year 3 and 6 with initial school assessment exams, some more regular tutoring and ad hoc tutoring to support school exams. Emma has either conducted the tutoring herself or helped source someone for me, for example a French tutor at my home. She is very responsive and finds solutions quickly. I highly recommend her and so do my boys.

Our 10 year old son who struggles with dyslexia and often shows resistance to doing school work at home, thoroughly enjoys his sessions with Emma. We asked him what he enjoys about his visits and he says ‘She’s fun and kind and explains things in a way I can understand.’ We as parents have noticed a significant positive impact; increased confidence, improved grades and a better understanding of a subject. We can’t thank Emma enough for all of her help.
